The Cycle Sisters Motorcycle Club will be hosting its 2nd Annual Comedy Show” starring Carrie Karavas & Friends. Great Strides Walk
Join the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s Great Strides Walk at Eisenhower Park, East Meadow. Check-in and breakfast begins at 9 a.m. followed by a 5K walk. Hosted by Jennifer McLogan of CBS-TV, the event also includes entertainment for the whole family, a mini-concert by the Joe Bayer Band and the opportunity to support a worthy cause. Miles for Melanoma
The Colette Coyne Melanoma Awareness Campaign will hold its 7th Annual Miles for Melanoma at Eisenhower Park, Field 2. Registration will be held from 8:30 a.m. The 5K run will begin at 10 a.m. and the walk will begin at 10:30 a.m. Registration will be $25 and includes a T-shirt and raffle ticket while supplies last. Children under 12 are free. A portable DVD player will be awarded to the participant with the most money raised. There will be special kid’s tables available for face painting, make your own UV sensitive bracelet, and nail polishing with UV sensitive polish. Religion and the Public Schools
The Supreme Court’s Establishment Clause Jurisprudence. This controversial issue will be the topic of a meeting at the Levittown Library at 7:30 p.m. Professor Thomas Schweitzer of the Jacob D. Fuschberg Law Center of Touro College will be the speaker. H will refer to many relevant cases including Aguilar v. Felton (1985) which said that New York City’s program using federal funds to pay the salaries of public employees who provided remedial education in parochial schools violated the First Amendment. Then in 1995 this case was overruled. The meeting is sponsored by the League of Women Voters of East Nassau. All welcome.
