Woman Struck and Killed by LIRR Train in Sayville

An eastbound Long Island Rail Road train struck and reportedly killed a woman in Sayville on Friday night.

LIRR officials said the woman was hit at about 10 p.m. west of the Sayville station by the 8:53 p.m. train from Jamaica due in Montauk at 11:57 p.m.

Her identity was not immediately released.

Train service on the Montauk Line saw up to 90-minute delays while investigators were on the scene.

MTA police are continuing the investigation into the cause of the incident.
