All Breed Dog Show

Hosted by the LI Kennel Club at Old Bethpage Village Restoration, Auxiliary Field, 1303 Round Swamp Rd., Old Bethpage. Doors open at 8 a.m. Featured at the event: breed judging, rally and obedience competition, breed showcase, demonstration by the U.S. Police Canine Association, vendors, cake for everyone before Best in Show competition. Track and Field Day Event

The Plainview-Old Bethpage SEPTA and Athletic Booster Club announce their Fourth Annual SEPTA/Booster Community Track and Field Day. This special free event for SEPTA’s families features field events organized by the POBJFKHS Varsity Track coaches and athletes. SEPTA families with school aged children grades K-12 are invited to enjoy a day of relays, challenges, skills training, T-shirts and medals for all participating children and a spectacular Booster Club Bar-B-Que. Parents are invited to meet, mingle and enjoy. The event will be held from noon until 2 p.m. at the POB JFK High School Track, 50 Kennedy Dr., Plainview. Stroke Support Groups

Stroke Life Society is a community organization of survivors and co-survivors in the pursuit of living and helping others. A stroke can be very isolating. Weekly Events

•Family Support Group, an ongoing support group for those who have family members or other loved ones with mental illness. Meets on Mondays from 7 to 8 p.m. at Central Nassau Guidance & Counseling Services, 950 South Oyster Bay Rd. The fee is $5 per family. •POB Senior Citizen Club meeting from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Fridays in the All-Purpose Room at the Jamaica Avenue School, 85 Jamaica Ave. For information call 937-6424. The club offers trips, cruises, parties, social and line dancing, art courses for all levels, craft classes, card games, bingo, horseracing, yoga, education programs, etc. Members must be 60 years or older, residing in the POB S.D. are eligible. •Speak Easy: A Toastmasters Club. Can help you conquer your fear of public speaking. In Bethpage, Northrop Grumman Toastmasters meets on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 5:45 p.m. in Northrop Grumman Building 5, South Oyster Bay Rd., Bethpage. Call Brian 346-7516.

•Meet the Doctors. Focusing on education, Premiere OBGYN will sponsor a Meet the Doctors program on the first Tuesday of each month from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at 79 Froelich Farm Blvd., Woodbury. Women who are planning a pregnancy or are already expecting can join Drs. Prince, Brooks and Flynn and have their questions answered on conception and a safe pregnancy.

•Alzheimer’s Support Group. Are you a caregiver who would like to share your experience with others? There is strength in knowing you are not alone. •Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) was founded in 1978, is congressionally chartered and exclusively dedicated to Vietnam-era veterans and their families. •Golf for Singles Adults, a group of 50 + single seniors meet the third Tuesday of every month, at 7:30 p.m. at the Holiday Inn, Sunnyside Blvd., Exit 46 off the LIE, Plainview. For info call 942-4228. The group plays on courses, mostly in Suffolk on the weekends as well as during the week.

•Italian Culture Society at Farmingdale meets the last Tuesday of every month at 7:30 p.m. at Ellsworth W. Allen Park, Motor Ave. Italian lessons are given by a native Italian teacher. •Central Oyster Bay Democratic Club (COBDC) meets the third Monday of each month at 7 p.m. in the community room at Ellsworth Allen Park, Motor Ave., Farmingdale. All are welcome to attend. The club serves the communities of Plainview, Bethpage, Old Bethpage, Farmingdale, North Massapequa, Massapequa Park and Massapequa. •Introduction to Chemotherapy, a monthly information session for cancer patients who are beginning chemotherapy treatments. Family members are welcome. Refreshments served. Nurses with special training, dietitians and other professionals present information that can help individuals understand, and cope with, the effects of chemotherapy treatments. There is also an opportunity to share information with others who may have been through similar situations.
