Athletes Helping Athletes Have Great Year

Island Trees Students Help Through Training and Mentoring Program

The Island Trees Athletes Helping Athletes (AHA) had a busy school year in 2010-11. In addition to their annual training and mentoring program they provided additional services to our schools and some local organizations.

Some of the year’s highlights include: visiting a local home for aging people during the holiday season bringing gifts and warm smiles; raising money for  (WIN,) holding a fund raising AHA tournament for a local family; supervising and running activities for three different Field Days; participating in Team Adventure Day at Stokes, Dr. Seuss Field Day at Sparke, and 5th Grade Field Day at the Middle School.

They finished the year with a field trip to watch the NY Mets play the California Angels. The Mets are sponsors of the AHA program and provide seats to thank the members for the fine work they do.

The Island Trees Athletic Department would like to thank all the members of our AHA program for the positive message they stand for and their commitment to our community: Justine Abramowski, Emily Lucas, Michael Ahrens, Ryan Macdonald, Christopher Altamura, Andrew Malkiel, Samantha Basile, Kelley Marlow, Emily Cranmer, Danielle Medellin, Amanda Dias, Allison Merrill, Whitney Dobladillo, Magdalene Milonakis, Joseph Esposito, Nicole Pellegrino, Michael Esposito, Ana Ramirez, Michelle Fabis, Conor Reilly, Elizabeth Flagler, Kyle Schamberger, Michael Jeannetti, Kelly Schulz, Nicolas Jorge, Taylor Tedeschi, and Bridget Vilbig.
