A Long Island man who is the former dean at a New Rochelle middle school has admitted to having sexual conduct with a 14-year-old boy.
Jose Martinez, 38, of Brentwood, pleaded guilty to a criminal sex act Wednesday at Westchester County court.
He will be sentenced to six months in jail, according to a spokeswoman for the district attorney. Martinez will also be registered as a sex offender and put on probation for 10 years.
He was arrested in March after prosecutors said he had sexual conduct with the student at Isaac Young Middle School last year.
Martinez had been promoted to the Assistant Principal position at Jefferson Elementary School last summer but abruptly resigned from this position before he was arrested.
At the time, the school’s superintendent said Martinez passed a criminal fingerprinting check before he was hired in 2007. He said there was no record of complaints from students or staff.
Martinez will retain his education licenses as a teacher and administrator in New York State pending a separate action by the New York Department of Education.
