One Earth, So Green and Round
An exciting mix of entertainment and education. Two great performers, Kathy Byers and Lydia Adams Davis, combine talents to present the topics of recycling, animal habits, global warming and environmental awareness. Amusing wild animal hand puppets, humorous story songs and audience participation are highlighted. July 26 at 1:30 p.m. at Levittown Veterans Park, Levittown. Join Every Child Matters – LI with Dialogue Beyond Borders for a free Summer BBQ and to help ECM-LI participate in the Rock Your Park Flash Mob Contest. 1 p.m. to sunset (Flash Mob taping will begin at 3 p.m.); workshops begin at 1:30 p.m. and dance presentation begins at 4 p.m. (for kids age 11+) at Eisenhower Park (by parking field 6A), 1899 Hempstead Tpke., East Meadow. Eriks’ Reptile Edventure
Free program presented by the Town of Hempstead. Tickets are not required. This exciting “edventure” will educate children on the importance of science and nature. Enjoy a fun-filled show that encourages kids to learn about reptiles, amphibians and bugs. Youngsters will learn to respect these creatures and become comfortable in their presence. 1 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Park, East Meadow. Informational programs relevant to the community are presented and refreshments are served. Meetings are open to the general public. Membership in the council is for residents and organizations in the areas comprised by the Levittown and Island Trees school districts.
Port North Basketball
Port North is a 3-year-old independent basketball team based out of Port Washington that plays year round in the super league at Island Garden and various tournaments in the metropolitan area. While the team has enjoyed success winning championships in 7th and 8th grade divisions this past season the emphasis is on teaching the fundamentals, developing good practice habits and preparing players for middle and high school basketball. The team has a professional trainer with over 20 years experience. We are currently looking for experienced players for next season. Levittown Historical Society and Museum
The organization collects, preserves and educates history of Levittown. Holds seven yearly general meetings in the Community Room of the Levittown Library and maintains the museum located in the Levittown Memorial Education Center, Room 10, 150 Abbey Ln., Levittown. The museum contains history of Levittown, WWII memorabilia, artifacts from the Levitt houses, toys, furniture, clothing of the ‘40s and ‘50s, replicas of the Levitt kitchen and the Levitt ranch living room. Levittown’s Brass and Percussion
A nonprofit organization that will teach kids, ages 8 to 88, to play an instrument and have fun parading, performing, competing and many social events. Free of charge.
