Rap star Nicki Minaj was recently fined in Jamaica after saying expletives and dancing suggestively during a recent performance.
According to the Jamaica Observer, Minaj was fined after her show at the Reggae Sumfest festival at the Catherine Hall Complex in Montego Bay on Sunday. Local authorities reportedly gave the artist the summons after her performance was over.
The 28-year-old, whose real name is Onika Maraj, was scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday because of her fine but reportedly did not show. Minaj’s lawyer Hugh Thompson, payed the stars fine of $11 U.S. dollars and pleaded guilty on her behalf.
Despite receiving the fine, Minaj had a positive reaction about the show saying her on official Twitter account, “OMG!!! I swear I just had the TIME of my LIFE @ ReggaeSumFest in JAMAICA!!!!! Jamaica I fell in love tonite! WOWW!!!!”
Minaj was also recently in the spotlight after her personal assistant Safaree Samuels allegedly threw a suitcase at her face. According to TMZ, after an altercation at a hotel in Dallas, Minaj followed Samuels up to her hotel room to make sure he didn’t steal any of her belongings. The police report from the incident claims that “[Nicki’s] teeth struck the inside of her lower lip, causing the inside of the lower lip to cut and start to bleed.”
Minaj addressed the recent scandals on her official Twitter account saying, “The media could pee on your leg & tell u its raining. You’d believe it. You’d believe u were an adopted martian if TMZ told u so. #stopit5.”
The star said in a separate tweet, “The fact that u believe a man either slapped or punched me in the face & didn’t leave on a strecher w/his balls hanging off? #getaF%cknLife.”
Minaj who is currently on tour with Britney Spears, recently received a compliment from the pop star. “I think she’s great. She is a great artist in every way and I’m really happy for her,” said Spears. “I think she has a distinct sound when she raps. It really stands out and sets her apart from everyone else. I’m happy she’s able to be on tour with me because that’s just amazing.”
