Shark Week is upon us people. July 30 at 9 p.m. marked the return of our favorite week of the year. It’s the 24th annual Shark Week, a week reserved for everything shark-related on the Discovery Channel.
For those who aren’t aware–that can’t be possible, can it?–the first Shark Week made its debut back in 1988 and has grown into a nationwide celebration over the years. Viewers become glued to their television screens to watch the plethora of shows featuring everything fins.
This year, Shark Week introduced the first ever Chief Shark Officer, Andy Samberg, who will host the week with seven brand-new shark shows. This week will even feature live co-viewing, not to mention the updated Shark Week website that features everything from shark games to shark facts and stories.
In light of Shark Week, the Long Island Press lists the top ten things for Long Islanders to do to celebrate.
