Blood Drive
The second portion of the Wantagh Fire Department’s 2011 Semi-Annual Blood Drive will be held at Station 1, 3470 Park Ave., Wantagh, from 3:30 to 8:30 p.m. in cooperation with the Blood Donor Center of the Nassau County Medical Center, WBAB Radio and the Terry Farrell Fund. Blood volunteers must be between 17 and 75 years, in general good health, must weigh at least 110 pounds and must not have donated blood in the last 56 days. Volunteers with a history of Multiple Sclerosis, heart disease and/or stroke will not be accepted. However, those with diabetes that are not insulin-dependent and is under control will be allowed. Those over 75 years must meet all criteria and provide a physician’s letter. Social Security numbers are required so donations may be crossed checked for health reasons. Since donations are being accepted during the evening and may interfere with supper, the Blood Drive Committee and Ladies Auxiliary will host a light dinner, desert and refreshments.

9-11 Memorial Service
The Levittown American Legion Post 1711 will be holding a memorial service on the 10 anniversary of this day of terrible loss of American lives. A short ceremony where we will held where we will remember the members of the Levittown community that loss their lives in this cowardly attack of terrorist on US soil. All residents of the Levittown and surrounding communities are welcome at this ceremony that will be held at the Levittown Veterans Park, Shelter Ln. and Hempstead Tpke., starting at 6 p.m.

Call 334-1025. KWVA is seeking all who served in the US Armed Forces and UN Command during the Korean War between Sept. 3, 1945 to Jan 31, 1955 or Feb. 1, 1955 to the present. You did not have to have served in Korea to be a member.
•Levittown Historical Society. If you are interested in helping collect memorabilia, photographs, appliances and furnishings from the early days of Levittown, come down for an interesting evening. Levittown’s Brass and Percussion
A nonprofit organization that will teach kids, ages 8 to 88, to play an instrument and have fun parading, performing, competing and many social events. Free of charge. Levittown Historical Society and Museum
The organization collects, preserves and educates history of Levittown. Holds seven yearly general meetings in the Community Room of the Levittown Library and maintains the museum located in the Levittown Memorial Education Center, Room 10, 150 Abbey Ln., Levittown. The museum contains history of Levittown, WWII memorabilia, artifacts from the Levitt houses, toys, furniture, clothing of the ‘40s and ‘50s, replicas of the Levitt kitchen and the Levitt ranch living room.
