Suffolk County Police have arrested a 24-year-old man for allegedly raping a woman at gunpoint on Fire Island earlier this month.
Edgar Peralta, 24, was charged with first-degree rape.
Officers responded to Cherry Grove after witnesses reported a woman screaming for help on Sept. 4. The victim reported a man, armed with a silver handgun, beat and sexually assaulted her.
Peralta, of both Cherry Grove and Corona, Queens, will be arraigned Sunday at First District Court in Central Islip.
