allisonA missing Ohio woman was found dead, partially submerged in a drainage ditch, in Italy on Wednesday, three days after she vanished while out for a run, and authorities believe her death could have been the result of a hit and run.

Italian investigators say Allison Owens, 23, had been working as a tour guide in Italy when she disappeared and could have been struck by a car as she was out jogging on the side of the road in the town of San Giovanni di Valdarno, but other causes of her death have not yet been ruled out.

“This is an unbelievable tragedy that’s come to this family,” Cynthia Kinman, a neighbor of the Owens family in Ohio told FoxNews.com. “She was an angel from the day she was born.”

Ownes, a recent college graduate, who had been working as a tour guide for five months, had only arrived in the town on Saturday.
