Held by The LI Chapter of the Hunter College Alumni Association at the Plainview-Old Bethpage Library, 999 Old Country Rd., Plainview. The POB Friends of the Library announce their “Annual Book Sale” fundraiser scheduled on Oct. 21 from 4 to 7 p.m., Oct. 22 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Oct. 23 from 1 to 4 p.m. Donations of books, children’s literature, CDs and DVDs, etc. are always appreciated. No magazines or textbooks. Contributions will be accepted Oct. 17-20. Donations may be dropped off anytime during regular library hours in the front lobby in bags marked for the Friends.

Fall Harvest Festival
The Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and School, 99 Central Park Rd., Plainview, will be holding its first annual Harvest Festival from noon to 4 p.m. with a rain date of Oct. 30. The country-style festival will be held on the grounds of the church and school. Planned activities include a children’s costume parade, pumpkin painting, scarecrow making, pony rides, apple pie baking contest and a farmers market produce tent that will include potted plants with a variety of indoor and outdoor items. Refreshment booths and much more. There will be theme baskets for a raffle prize. School families and church members will show off their baking skills at the baked goods tent with all cookies, cakes and bread for sale. The festival promises to be a old fashion day of fun. Jewish Genealogy Society of LI
Will hold a very special meeting at 2 p.m. at the Plainview-Old Bethpage Library, 999 Old Country Rd., Plainview. Program: Who Do You Think You Are, Roger Tilles? A program modeled on NBC’s hit TV show. A year in the making, several JGSLI members have been researching Roger Tilles, a well-known LI philanthropist. They’ve found surprises and will be revealing all, including how information was discovered and the resources used in this very special presentation. All are welcome. Stroke Life Society is a community organization of survivors and co-survivors in the pursuit of living and helping others. A stroke can be very isolating. •Family Support Group, an ongoing support group for those who have family members or other loved ones with mental illness.
