Giuliana Rancic of “Giuliana & Bill” and E! host, has just revealed she is battling cancer.

“Giuliana & Bill” followed Rancic and her husband Bill as they tried to conceive with in vitro fertilization treatments.  But this morning on Today, she revealed that after two in vitro fertilization treatments, she found she was battling breast cancer.

She noted that as she attempted to get pregnant for the third time, she found out the news.

“We sadly found out that I have early stages of breast cancer,” she said.  “When they came in to tell me, they said it pretty quickly. It’s what you expect but so much more.”

She also said that she put off having a baby while she receives treatment for her illness.  “A lot of people have been asking, we saw that you went and got IVF, are you pregnant?,” she said. “But sadly, we’ve had to put that off.”

The 36-year-old said her in vitro fertilization doctor suggested she get a mammogram (Rancic was going to wait until she was 40 to get a mammogram). The mammogram revealed she had early stages of breast cancer.

According to Today, Rancic noted that the cancer was caught early and that she will have surgery this week. Following the surgery, Ranci will undergo radiation for six weeks.

Giuliana married Bill Rancic in 2007 and the two had been trying to conceive since 2009. Rancic got pregnant in the spring of 2010 after IVF treatment but suffered a miscarriage at eight weeks. She had another IVG transfer in 2010 but did not get pregnant as a result. She noted that had she not been trying to conceive she would not have caught the cancer in its early stages.

“Now I truly believe God was looking out for me,” she said. “Had I gotten pregnant, a few years down the line I could have gotten sicker. So the baby saved my life.”

“Women these days are busier than ever,” she said.”We have to start putting ourselves on the to do list.”
