Farmingdale Flag Football Recap

Peanut 1: “Action”Jackson Penn ran for a long TD on the first play from scrimmage. Mason Kott threw a lateral pass to Christopher Giglio which he turned into an electrifying 80 yard TD score. Tyler Alves dominated the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball and had a big tackle for no gain. Christopher DiPiazza threw a completed pass, had a tackle on defense and pitched in with 2 nice runs of his own.

Pee Wee 3: Despite a heart wrenching last-minute loss against the Steelers, the Cardinals displayed exceptional skill and exemplary sportsmanship. The Cardinals would like to congratulate the Steelers on a hard-earned come-from-behind win in the last few minutes of the game. Highlights include Cardinals’ Brendan Moritz’s outstanding 180 combined running and receiving yards. Other notable performances were delivered by center Ryan Allen with 15 yards receiving, quarterback Vincent Sottile with a 15 yard pass for a 40 yard gain, receivers Ayub and Yaqub Tursonzadah with over 15 yards each, and Avery Avila, whose running fakes and QB roll-outs helped gain the team a healthy lead early in the game.

Girls 3-5: The Cardinals enjoyed their first victory of the season with a complete team effort against the Packers.  The Strocchia twins, Olivia and Vanessa, led the way, each with long TD runs. QB Rebecca Morales led a strong offensive charge, with an impressive rumble downfield and a long TD strike to the versatile Jenna Coscenza, who also contributed a dazzling TD run of her own.  Olivia Connolly and Gianna Morales played strong, two-way games with big runs on offense and strong plays on defense, while Samantha Nocerino and Lindsay Shimborske each contributed stunning TDs on some nifty running, too.  Samantha Meyers was a rock on defense and also contributed to a balanced offensive showing for the Cardinals, who dedicated their first win to teammate, Madison Lapiana, whose season ended a week earlier with a broken arm.

Junior Varsity 5: The Patriots had a great bounce back win beating the previously undefeated Jets! Defense played a big role in this victory, which was led by Matthew Widmer who was an absolute beast! Matt started things off on the first series of the game with an absolutely incredible pass block, interception and run for a touchdown! Matt added many pursuit flag pulls to complete a dominant defensive day! On the other side of the ball Nicky Demers had another fantasy superstar day throwing four touchdowns and completing many passes in Brady-sequel fashion to multiple receivers!  Avery Stevenson had two touchdowns, Cody Nelson had one TD and first down catch, Jevon Evans had a good run and Nicholas Demeri helped keep moving the ball down the field.  Finally, Nyle Gordon had a running touchdown along with the final TD catch of the game that slammed the door shut on a Jets comeback!

Junior Varsity 7: The Raiders bounced back this week with a 34-20 win over the Jets.  Strong QB efforts by Tyler Sullivan and Tommy Catalano along with great receptions by Michael McKnight, Trevor Clark, Brendan McNaughton, Tom Fernandez and Liam Byrne led to victory.

Girls 7-9: The Lady Jets continued their winning ways this past Sunday with a victory over the Patriots.  Sam Muscarella threw her first touchdown pass of the year and Theresa DeSantis threw two others.  Casey Shimborske ran back an interception for a touchdown, one of four interceptions the Jets had on the day.  Jayme Rosner had a full field touchdown run.  Jamie Carmine and Julia Presta played well on both sides of the line of scrimmage.
