A motor vehicle crash killed a Riverhead woman this morning.
According to Suffolk County Police, at around 6:15 a.m., Adalid Trejo of Brentwood, was driving westbound on Sunrise Highway, near Hubbard’s Path in West Babylon, when he apparently lost control of his vehicle over a patch of ice and struck a guardrail. Trejo got out of his vehicle and began inspecting the damage when his car was struck by another vehicle. The driver, Susan Galligan, apparently lost control of her vehicle which spun out of control and struck the rear of the Trejo’s car.
Galligan, 54, of Riverhead, was pronounced dead at the scene. Trejo, 37, and his passengers, Joaquin Trejo, 46, and Franklin Trejo-Monge, 23, both of Brentwood, were transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks and the investigation is continuing.
