Family Zumbathon Gets Kids and Parents Exercising, November 12

The Hispanic Cultural Center of Oyster Bay-East Norwich is holding a Family Zumbathon on Saturday, Nov. 12. Registration starts at 5:30 p.m. and the event takes place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Theodore Roosevelt Elementary School (gymnasium). The school is located at 150 West Main Street in Oyster Bay.

Family Zumbathon is an event aimed at promoting a healthy and active lifestyle for the entire family. “What better way to get your kids interested in exercise than to exercise together as a family,” says Adolfo Zepeda, programs coordinator of the Hispanic Cultural Center. He adds, “You’re never too old or too young to start making healthy lifestyle changes.”

Zumba is a high energy aerobic exercise done to the beats and sounds of Latin inspired music.

You can register the day of the event or call 558-7020 or email cchcite@aol.com to register. Donations are $15 for adults and $5 for children to participate. All proceeds will benefit the educational programs of the Hispanic Cultural Center, a non-profit group. Their focus is on Care After-school Resource for Education (CARES), an after-school program for children that come from homes where English is not the first language spoken by parents and as a result can’t help them with their homework.
