David Nelson’s longtime girlfriend will be on the field with him when his Buffalo Bills take on the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. But will she be cheering for him, or the Cowboys?
The wide receiver’s girlfriend, Kelsi Reich, is a cheerleader for the Cowboys, so everyone knows where her allegiances stands every Sunday. But this is not your normal week of the football season for the couple, and Nelson hopes she’ll be happy for him if he contributes to a win over her employer.
“She works for the Dallas Cowboys and roots for the Dallas Cowboys, but I know she’ll have some inside joy if I do well,” Nelson, according to the Bills official website. ”So it’s going to be a fun experience and I’m going to definitely be looking and record the TV copy and see if they show her a couple of times to see her reaction. It’s going to be fun. It’s something we’ve been looking forward to for some time and we’ve already been trash talking back and forth a little bit.”
The most interesting thing about all this, is what happens if Nelson lands in the end zone? Will he walk up to his blonde girlfriend and celebrate with her? It’s a tricky situation, said Nelson, who doesn’t want her to catch any heat because of him.
“If I’m in the area where she is I’m sure I’ll have something planned for that, but I also don’t want to get her in too much trouble,” he said. ”I obviously couldn’t get in trouble, but she could. I’m discussing some things and try to surprise her a little bit if maybe something happens.”
But before anybody gets too giddy about a “surprise,” Nelson already squashed the idea of him proposing.
“I can honestly tell you 100 percent it will not be a proposal,” he said, adding, that he’ll be thinking of a different way to celebrate in the end zone. Will she play along?
