Garden City High School Students Selected as NYSAHPERD Recipients

Congratulations to Garden City High School seniors Molly Timmins and Aaron Miner, pictured with Nancy Kalafus, director of athletics and physical education, who were recently named as Garden City’s 2011 Outstanding Physical Education Students by the New York State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (NYSAHPERD). “Aaron and I have been in gym class together for two years now,” commented Molly. “It’s a great way for students to have fun during the school day. I’m happy that the gym teachers are supportive of activities such as floor hockey.” Aaron agreed, stating, “It’s a great way to participate in school and a good opportunity to get the exercise you need to stay healthy.” The two seniors will be honored on Dec.12 at the NYSAHPERD awards dinner at the Crest Hollow Country Club.
