Uniondale Man Arrested After Cops Catch Drug Deal

A man was arrested in Uniondale after cops witnessed a drug deal and attempted to break it up.

According to Nassau County Police, Saturday at 11:05 p.m., officers observed a Nissan being driven erratically westbound on Hempstead Turnpike in Uniondale. The officers followed the vehicle to Devon Rd., and Hendrickson Ave., in Hempstead where a man allegedly exited the vehicle and approached another man on the corner. Officers believe a drug transaction occurred.

The officers then approached the subjects who fled on foot in opposite directions. The driver of the Nissan reversed the car, mounting the curb and striking a street sign while attempting to flee but instead disabled the car. The driver jumped out and fled on foot east on Devon Rd.

Another man, 23-year-old Kenneth Houston of Uniondale was found in the vehicle and was taken into custody. Houston is being charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance and Criminal Possession of a Weapon. He was arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead early Sunday.

According to cops, three clear bags of a substance believed to be crack cocaine were recovered from the car’s cup holder along with a .22 caliber handgun that was recovered under a floor mat.

An extensive search for the remaining subjects was negative.
