Three senior members of the football team were recently honored at the Crest Hollow Country Club with county awards. A fourth senior was honored at a separate brunch on Sunday, Dec. 4 at the Crest Hollow Country Club. The coaching staff would like to congratulate all of the award winners.
Senior RB/LB and co-Captain, Chris Pascali was an All-Conference and All-County player. Pascali represented Island Trees High School (ITHS) as the starting fullback in the Nassau County Senior Game held at Mitchell Field.
Senior QB/DB and co-Captain, Kyle Nigro was an All-Conference player. Nigro was also selected to the Academic All-Conference team for his work in the classroom.
Senior OL/DL, Brendan Reilly was chosen to be the program’s “Unsung Hero.” Each school recognizes one student athlete that displays high character, morals, a positive attitude and a strong work ethic without being concerned about personal glory or satisfaction. Reilly encompasses everything that this award was designed for. Although playing time was limited, Reilly was the ultimate teammate and never asked what was in it for him. He would voluntarily be the first one on the field to set up practice and the last one in the locker room to make sure everything was put away and locked up.
Senior TE/DE and co-Captain, Tyler Byrne was nominated for the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame Scholar Athlete Award for his hard work and dedication on the field as well as in the classroom.
