An alleged drunken driver and his passenger were seriously injured in a crash in Holtsville early Sunday morning, Suffolk County police said.
Robert McDowell, 24, was driving on Blue Point Road when he lost control of his Nissan and struck a pole at 4:30 a.m., police said. McDowell and his passenger, Courtney Lester, who was ejected from the vehicle, were seriously injured.
Lester, 21, and McDowell, both of 15 Ashland Gate, were rushed to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue, where they were treated for serious injuries.
Cops later arrested McDowell. He was charged with Driving While Intoxicated and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle. He will be arraigned at a later date.
The Nissan was impounded and the investigation is continuing.
