More Than 82 Couples Renew Vows on Valentine’s Day

On Valentine’s Day at Harbor Links Clubhouse, off West Shore Drive in Port Washington, couples gathered to renew their vows, then be treated to a delicious luncheon, complete with a champagne toast, followed by a delectable wedding cake.

The event, orchestrated by North Hempstead Town Clerk Leslie Gross, has grown every year. Last year, there were 60 couples and this year couples had to be turned away, it has become such a popular event.

The only criteria is for the couples to be married at least 50 years and to live in the Town of North Hempstead.

After everyone was safely seated, North Hempstead Town Clerk Gross, proceeded to renew their vows with some very special words ending in:

“You were made to love me

and I was made to love you

Our destinies intertwined

Bringing us together here today

And all the days of our lives”

Then each couple let go of the bright red balloon they were holding and as it drifted to the ceiling they kissed each other.

The last words that Clerk Gross spoke were those from her favorite expression which is, “Love as Long as You Live and Live as Long as Your Love”.

All the couples then found their tables and it was “let the party begin!”
