Carjacker Rides Off In Toyota In Freeport, Cops Say

A Woman attempted to enter her parked car but was reportedly the victim of a carjacking instead.

According to police, Sunday at 8:45 a.m., a 54-year-old woman entered her gray Toyota Matrix, which was parked behind her apartment building on Broadway in Freeport. The woman was stopped by a man who approached her wielding a gold semi-automatic handgun and demanded she get out of the car. As she left the vehicle, he hopped in and fled north on Harding Place.

There were no reports of injury and police later found the vehicle unoccupied.
