Quantcast

From the desk of Dr. Charles Murphy: March 22, 2012

With the warmer weather upon us, the activity on our playgrounds and fields increases tremendously. We have hundreds and hundreds of children participating in youth sports programs and many other kids playing on our playground equipment each week. This speaks volumes of our community – we have kids who really enjoy recreational activities. This is exactly how our fields and playgrounds should be utilized.

Unfortunately during this time of year, we also have many young people gathering on our school grounds at night. Although we have security patrolling our school facilities, we still experience a considerable amount of vandalism during the spring and summer months. In fact, many of our school neighbors often contact the district about excessive noise and schoolyard parties.

We do want to make parents aware that the school grounds and playgrounds are closed after dusk. Students found on our school property after dark could end up with disciplinary consequences for trespassing. Therefore, we ask that parents speak to their children about this. The school will also make announcements so the students understand this policy. Thank you in advance for your assistance in this matter.
