A Farmingdale man was arrested Sunday for driving while intoxicated after he drove the wrong way on Route 109 in North Lindenhurst.
According to Suffolk County Police, 27-year-old Jason Tyree was driving his 2001 Volvo westbound in the eastbound lane of Route 109 just west of Wellwood Avenue in North Lindenhurst. Cops say drivers of eastbound vehicles had to swerve out of the way of Tyree’s vehicle to avoid a collision.
Tyree’s vehicle struck a 2012 Nissan head-on near 1144 Route 109, which caused minor injuries to himself and to the other driver. Both drivers were transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip for treatment.
Tyree was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and Reckless Endangerment.
