Ray Lewis Stanford Basketball Speech [Video]

Twitter and YouTube were abuzz Thursday afternoon after a video hit the web that showed Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis pumping up Stanford’s basketball team before their NIT game Tuesday night.

Stanford won that game by double-digit points and some are pointing to Lewis’ speech as the reason why.

But hey, let’s give the kids some credit, too, for going out there and taking down the competition.

As for Lewis, he’s either really bored, or just loves pumping up athletes before a big game.

So what did he say that got everyone so pumped up?

“If tomorrow wasn’t promised, what would you give for today?” Lewis began. “Forget everything else, forget everything else, forget that there wasn’t any sunlight left…”

Wait, really?

He kept going: “What would you spend today thinking about, yourself or the man that’s beside you, or the man that you know you’ll give everything in your heart for?”

“We get one opportunity in life,” he added, “one chance at life to do whatever you’re going to do.”

Ready to run through a wall yet?

“I’m pissed off for greatness,” Lewis continued, “cause if you ain’t pissed off for greatness than that means you’re okay with being mediocre.”

Let’s just say the Stanford players got a little excited. At the end of the speech, they huddled around Lewis and yelled, “family!”
