Registration for Women’s Tennis Leagues Begins

Sign ups for the 2012-2013 Community Park Tennis Center weekday women’s tennis leagues are underway. All players wishing to join can pick up and fill out an application at the Community Park Clubhouse, or download an application at www.gardencityrecreation.org.

Current players have first choice to rejoin their league and must be signed up for next season by Friday, April 27. After this date, openings will be filled on a first-come first-served basis by qualified players. If you do not come in first or second in your current group and you wish to move up, you may try out for the group. If the pro ranks you at that level and there are openings you can move to the next level. So get your application in as soon as possible. All new players must attend a try-out (to be rated) with one of our pros before they can play in the league. You do not have to try out for learn and play league. If you do not get into the league of your choice, you may sign up as a sub player. They will do their best to accommodate players; however, there is limited court time and a limited number of openings in the women’s tennis leagues.

For more information please call Tom McGerty at the Community Park Clubhouse, 483-2525. The fee to play is $460 per person for doubles and $470 per person for singles leagues.

Monday 3.0 doubles 1– 2:30 p.m.
Tuesday 2.5 doubles 11:30–1 p.m.
Wednesday 2.0-2.5 (coached play) 11:30–12:30 p.m.
Thursday 3.0 singles 11:30-12:30 p.m.
Thursday 3.5 doubles 12:30–2 p.m.
Friday 1.5-2.0 (instructional) 11 a.m.–noon
Friday 3.0-3.5 singles noon–1 p.m.

2012 Men’s Spring Softball League

Applications for the Garden City Department of Recreation and Parks’ 2012 Men’s Softball League are now available online at www.gardencityrecreation.org. Applications were due Monday, March 26. Games will be played Monday through Thursday nights at 8:15 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. The league fee is $500 per team for an 8 game season. Openings are limited. Some teams may need additional players. If you are interested in playing, but don’t have a team, please let them know and they will do their best to find a team spot for you. If you are planning a birthday party, a group outing or just looking to get together with family, friends or co-workers, why not try miniature golf at Community Park. Our course has twists and turns to excite players of all ages! Offered is a beautiful setting with a shaded picnic area, a playground and a snack bar. Additionally this fun-filled activity is reasonably priced. So look into these party packages and let the fun begin.

They are now booking parties for the 2012 season, which will start mid-April.
