The Levittown Fire Department wishes to announce the untimely passing of 54- year member ex-Chief Edward T. Purcell. Ed was sworn in to Engine Co. 3 of the Levittown Fire Department in July of 1957. Ed rose through the ranks in Engine Company 3 serving as a lieutenant and captain in 1969 and 1970. He served as deputy chief of the Levittown Fire Department from 1974 through 1979 and as chief of department in 1980 and 1981. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was employed as a steamfitter with Local 638 for over 50 years.
Ed is survived by his sons, Billy (Jennifer) and Tommy (Allison) and his daughter- in law Patricia Purcell and six grandchildren. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Mary and his son Edward.
