Reckless Driving on LIE Ends With 2 Arrests

Two drivers were arrested Sunday after cops observed them driving recklessly on the Long Island Expressway.

According to Nassau County Police, Lesly Chery, 22 of Elmont and Joel Wright, 21, of Laurelton were observed by officers driving recklessly on the Long Island Expressway in Old Westbury at 2:20 a.m. Sunday.  The two vehicles were traveling at approximately 95 MPH and weaving in and out of other vehicles on the roadway.  Police Officers pulled over both cars at Exit 39 and arrested Wright, who was driving a BMW and Chery, who was driving a Chevy Impala.

Wright and Chery are charged with Reckless Endangerment, Reckless Driving, Illegal Speed Contest and multiple traffic violations.  In addition Wright is charged with Driving While Intoxicated and Chery is charged with Driving Alcohol Impairment.  The defendants were arraigned on April 8 in Hempstead.
