On April 14, the Levittown-Island Trees Youth Council held its annual baseball parade and opening day baseball tournament. Teams representing Levittown West Little League (LWLL), Levittown Central Baseball, Levittown South Wantagh Baseball, Levittown North Baseball and the Island Trees Baseball club participated.
After a full day of baseball games in bracket play, the LWLL minors division team and the Island Trees Baseball minors division team advanced to the championship game, under the lights at McLaren Field.
After six innings of exciting, competitive and fun play, the LWLL Reds team defeated the Island Trees Cardinals team with a score of 5-4. The tournament trophy for the 9- to 10-year-old age group will be brought home to the LWLL where it will remain until next year’s winners earn the rights.
