World War II Historical Encampment

Melville resident Robert Scarabino will be participating in a tribute to every American G.I. who has defended our country when a World War II encampment is held at Old Bethpage Restoration Village, 1303 Round Swamp Rd., Old Bethpage, complete with living historians, tanks and artillery during the weekend of May 19 and 20. The living history program will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Additional military vehicles from the New York Military Vehicle Club will also be on hand for display and demonstrations. Admission is $10 adults; $7 children.

All Breed Dog Show

The Long Island Kennel Club will host its All Breed Dog Show at Old Bethpage Village Restoration, Auxiliary Field, 1303 Round Swamp Rd., Old Bethpage, on May 20. Doors open at 8 a.m. Admission $8 per adult; $4 children and seniors. Featured at the event: breed judging, rally and obedience competition, breed showcase, freestyle exhibition, vendors, education, tours, cake for everyone before Best in Show competition and a new event from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. – My Dog Can Do That – American Kennel Club guided agility course open to all dogs, purebred and mixed breed, free of charge, with no preregistration; proof of rabies vaccination required. National Senior Health/Fitness Day Event

Free Chair Yoga Class at 4 p.m. at Physical Solutions Physical Therapy & Fitness, 1211 Stewart Ave., Bethpage. Come enjoy Chair Yoga with Cait Seabury. This gentle yoga class will help build strength, flexibility and endurance. Meditative techniques will also be used to calm the mind and soothe the body. Senior Birthday Celebrations

Elder Law Attorney Stephen J. Silverberg announces that the Law Office of Stephen J. Silverberg, PC, has become a sponsor of Nassau County’s Senior Birthday Celebrations. The monthly birthday parties, held at the Old Bethpage Restoration Fairground building, 1302 Round Swamp Rd., Old Bethpage, from noon to 2 p.m., for residents ages 65 and older, were designed to provide Nassau County senior citizens with access to information about services provided by the Nassau County Offices of Aging, Consumer Affairs, Assessment, Health and Human Services, Housing and Social Services. Seniors are invited to celebrate their birthday in the month in which it falls with light refreshments, live entertainment by the Moonlight Serenaders, and games and raffles. Attendees will receive goody bags full of related information along with a free photo identification card.

A Night of Improv

The Sarah Grace Foundation For Children With Cancer, Inc., will hold its 2nd Annual Theatrical Fundraiser, “Unrehearsed: A Night of Improv,” at 7 p.m. on June 1 and June 2 in the Hicksville United Methodist Church Social Hall, 130 West Old Country Rd., Hicksville. The family-oriented show will be similar to the popular improvisational comedy television show Whose Line Is It Anyway? Proceeds will benefit the Long Island-based non-profit corporation dedicated to helping other children and their families facing the financial and emotional challenges and hardships brought upon by childhood cancer.

•Family Support Group, an ongoing support group for those who have family members or other loved ones with mental illness. Meets on Mondays from 7 to 8 p.m. at Central Nassau Guidance & Counseling Services, 950 South Oyster Bay Rd. The fee is $5 per family. •Introduction To Chemotherapy, a monthly information session for cancer patients who are beginning chemotherapy treatments. Family members are welcome. Refreshments served. Nurses with special training, dietitians and other professionals present information that can help individuals understand, and cope with, the effects of chemotherapy treatments. There is also an opportunity to share information with others who may have been through similar situations.
