Grammy-award winning singer Adele announced that she is pregnant with her first child.
The popular singer confirmed the news to her legion of fans on her official website Friday, saying she is expecting her first child with her boyfriend Simon Konecki.
“I wanted you to hear the news direct from me, obviously we’re over the moon and very excited but please respect our privacy at this precious time,” Adele said.
Adele didn’t say how far along she is.
Quickly after the news broke, the singer’s website reportedly crashed due to a large amount of traffic.
The pregnancy news is another milestone achievement for the 24-year-old singer, who won six Grammys this year for her best-selling album “21.”
But it wasn’t all easy.
The British star had to battle back from throat surgery before she was able to sing for her fans again.
Adele made her triumphant return on the Grammys where she dominated the competition and also performed live on the award show.
The singer reportedly met Konecki last year and the two quickly became an item. Konecki has a daughter from a prior relationship.
The Daily Star reported back in March that Adele wanted to start a family.
“The pair have spoken about children and it’s something they both very much want in the future,” a source told the Daily Star, adding, “It’s a huge turnaround for Adele who’s always said she wants to wait until she’s at least 30 and has five albums before she thinks about a family.”
