Massapequa Man Arrested for Impersonating Officer

A Massapequa man was arrested Saturday after allegedly impersonating a police officer.

According to cops, at around 5:30 p.m., 27-year-old Christopher Gabriele was driving on Wantagh Avenue behind two women in their twenties and began beeping his horn to which the women made hand gestures. Gabriele reportedly then pulled alongside them, showed a black wallet with what appeared to be a police officers’ shield and told them to pull over.

The two women followed his orders and pulled into a gas station located on Wantagh Avenue and Old Jerusalem Road where Gabriele got out of his car and told them he was a police officer, according to cops. He returned to his car and fled but not before the women took down his license plate number and then called cops. Police investigated the incident and later arrested Gabriele at his home.

Gabriele is being charged with criminal impersonation and was released on a Nassau County Appearance Ticket to appear in First District Court, Hempstead on July 9, 2012.
