Jessica Simpson’s father, Joseph, was arrested on Saturday for driving while under the influence in Sherman Oaks, California, TMZ reported on Thursday.
The 54-year old was taken into police custody after he was pulled over around 10 p.m. on Ventura Blvd. He was released at 9:41 the next morning without having to post bail. Prosecutors in the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office have reportedly not yet received the case.
Jessica Simpson responded the night of her father’s arrest by tweeting, “Responsibility has drastically changed my life! Saturday night drink of choice…WATER!”
According to TMZ, the father of two will most likely not face jail time since it is his first offense, but he may be forced to pay a fine, depending on his driving record and laws regarding drunk driving in California.
Jessica rose to fame as a singer in 1999 and is now a fashion designer and judge for reality series, Fashion Star, in which young designers compete for a chance to sell their clothes to Macy’s, H&M and Saks Fifth Avenue.
Sister Ashlee is also a singer, actress and fashion designer who is currently working on her fourth Album. She is set to star in Pawn Shop, which is set for release in 2013.
Simpson is a former Baptist minister and psychologist who manages both of his daughters. He is the grandfather of daughter Ashley’s child, Bronx Wentz, from her former marriage to musician Peter Wentz and Jessica’s daughter, Maxwell Johnson, with her fiance Eric Johnson.
He currently resides in McGregor, Texas with his wife, Tina Ann.
