Open House For Seniors

The Plainview-Old Bethpage Seniors Club located at 85 Jamaica Avenue, Plainview, will hold an open house for seniors 60 and over from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Seniors must bring their school tax bill to show residency in Plainview or Old Bethpage. The dues are $20 per year, and the club offers trips, parties and educational programs. Refreshments will be served. For more information call 937-6424.

Miscarriage Support Group

A safe, confidential, supportive environment to talk about what you have been through, reactions and feelings and how to move forward. You are not alone! Facilitated by a professional therapist. Free Veterinary Lectures

Once a month beginning in September through December, Long Island Cat Fanciers sponsors free lectures given by top local veterinarians on topics relevant to dog and cat owners. All members of the public are welcome to attend. •Family Support Group, an ongoing support group for those who have family members or other loved ones with mental illness. Meets on Mondays from 7 to 8 p.m. at Central Nassau Guidance & Counseling Services, 950 South Oyster Bay Rd. The fee is $5 per family. •Italian Culture Society At Farmingdale meets the last Tuesday of every month at 7:30 p.m. at Ellsworth W. Allen Park, Motor Ave., Farmingdale. Italian lessons are given by a native Italian teacher. •Introduction To Chemotherapy, a monthly information session for cancer patients who are beginning chemotherapy treatments. Family members are welcome. Refreshments served. Nurses with special training, dietitians and other professionals present information that can help individuals understand, and cope with, the effects of chemotherapy treatments. There is also an opportunity to share information with others who may have been through similar situations. Meets on the third Wednesday of the month at 7:30 p.m. in the Patient’s Lounge on 3-West at North Shore University Hospital at Plainview, 888 Old Country Rd. •Green Living Seminars, a series hosted by Starflower Experiences at 7 p.m. at the Melville Branch of the Half Hollow Hills Library, 510 Sweet Hollow Rd., directly across from the Sunquam Elementary School (between Route 110 and Old Country Rd.). Learn about risks, warning signs and treatments and hear medical specialists speak about the health issues concerning stroke and stroke prevention.
