Week One
Grasshopper: The 49ers kicked off their season with a 95-yard touchdown run by Dean Kott on the first play from scrimmage. On their next possession, Colin Horowitz connected with Luke Begley on a pass play that resulted in a 90-yard touchdown. Colin also added a TD run of his own later in the second half. Christopher Ruotolo contributed on defense with several nice tackles/flags.
Pee Wee 4: The Titans won their season opener 20-12. Daniel DeMartino threw for two touchdowns while Sam Cordova caught two touchdowns. Brandon Moritz also had a long touch down run. The Titans defense was solid led by Matt Gaba, Jack Moloney, Tyler Carlow and Michael Melo.
JV 6: The Steelers were led to a 20-12 victory by Daniel Bould’s two touchdown receptions and interception return for a TD. Quarterbacks Mario Febbraro and Jared Aleman each had TD passes. The Steeler defense was outstanding with Matthew Widmer provided constant pressure on the Giants QB.
Week Two
Grasshopper: Colin Horowitz was unstoppable for the 49ers on Sunday. He ran for two TDs and caught another on a nice pass from Anthony Scarmato. Luke Begley scored on an 75-yard run while Dean Kott added an 75-yard run of his own in the first half and scored on a long TD run in the second half.
Pee Wee 2: The Jets played a back and forth game against the Steelers. Olivia Cassese opened the scoring with her second touchdown of the season. Quarterback Chris Kosinski completed seven passes. Anthony Ventiere and Philip Pierro were the leading receivers of the day. Alena Godas and Bryan Birkl anchored the running game. Tyler Kretzmer scored two touchdowns with his second coming on the last play of the day to tie the game.
Girls 5/6: The Saints improved to 2-0. The defense scored 18 points with three interceptions that were returned for touchdowns by Kayla Poltorak, Sophia Iaccino and Julia Graziano. Sammy Dunn caught a pass in the end zone for a fourth touchdown. Nicole Kosinski scored on a long run on the “Statue of Liberty” play that was followed by an extra point conversion that was caught by Kristen Dunn. Kristen Browne caught a pass and had a long run and Olivia Frost had three long rushes contributing to the offense.
JV 6: The Patriots had a great day with Nicky Demers passing to Jake Dominicci and Jevon Evans who turned in monster TD runs along with a TD score from Nick Demeri. Cody Nelson and Brandon Dols helped keep the Patriots offense moving as well. The Patriots defense was stifling with six interceptions including ones from Garrett Delmarco, Demeri and a Pick 6 by Demers on an outstanding catch and run.
