Week 2: Peanut 2—The Steelers played an impressive game against the Jets. Izabella Cimino opened the scoring on a long run down the sideline. Jack Wiser threw a TD pass to Ben Purcell before running in one of his own. Wiser had two interceptions on defense to go along with CJ Mangio’s team leading five flags. Nick DiGorga also played well in his second game with the Steelers.
In a hard fought high scoring battle between the Saints and 49ers, the Saints offense included an exciting 50-yard touchdown run by Gavin Vega on one play and another long touchdown run by Tyler Bules. The Saints also scored on a touchdown pass from Michael Connolly to Torin Kassenbaum.
Christopher Giglio was all over the field for the Redskins and scored on two long TD runs of 75+ yards. Joseph Mahan had an 80-yard run of his own that also resulted in a touchdown. On defense the Redskins were led by Christian Mall who recorded four solo tackles, flags and assisted on several others.
Girls 5/6—In a hard fought battle between the Titans and 49ers, the Titans came up short in an 18-8 loss. But the Titans played tough defense in the second half to stay close and were led by Gianna and Rebecca Morales and Victoria Gagliadri who all grabbed flags to stop the 49ers offense. The Titans lone offensive score was a thrilling touchdown pass by Allison Kiernan to Olivia Connolly who exploded after the catch to elude the defense and run it in for the score. Kiernan followed up her TD pass with a great run for the two-point conversion.
Week 3: Grasshoppers—The 49ers were clicking on all cylinders this week. Nick and Sal Migliaccio each scored on long TD runs as did Christopher Ruotolo. Colon Horowitz connected with Dean Kott on a pass play for another TD and Anthony Scarmato scored a rushing TD on the final play of the game. On defense, Kott, Horowitz and Nick Migliaccio combined for a total of 12 flags/tackles.
Peanut 2—Dillon Mehta led the way scoring on two long runs and a TD reception for the Steelers. Izabella Cimino, Jack Wiser, Ben Purcell, and Joe Walsh also added scores. Wiser had six flags and Matt Cangelosi, Dillon and Ben all had key interceptions stopping the Giants’ momentum. Nick Digorga, Aiden Ng and Nick Mahan played well on both sides of the ball.
Christopher Giglio scored on a 70-yard TD run in the first half and added another TD on a reverse from Joe Mahan in the second half for the Redskins. Christian Mall added a TD of his own on a 75-yard run while Gabe Aliendro, Michael McCarty and William Napolitano contributed defense.
PeeWee 3—The Steelers edged the Titans in an overtime thriller. With the game tied 14 all, Nicholas Napolitano caught a short pass and out ran the defense to the end zone. The extra point failed. The Titans then responded with a last second 80-yard run by Chris Krasmer to send the game into overtime at 20-20. The Steelers Colin Cody ran an end around for a 40-yard touchdown. The Titans were driving when Nick Disanti stepped in front of a pass for a game ending interception. The Steelers defense was led by Miles McIntyre who had an interception and Ian Innes, who had three flags pulled.
PeeWee 4—The Titans had a great day winning 30-26 over the Steelers. Brandon Moritz, Matt Gaba and Sam Cordova all had TD runs. The Titans defense was solid led by Jack Moloney, Tyler Carlow, Chris Sperretta, Michael Melo and Adam Gordon.
Junior Varsity 6—The Steelers held on for the win in a 29-27 nail biter against the Patriots. Vincent Perrone had a game-saving interception and led the Steeler defense along with Connor Zanelotti by together pulling several flags. Jared Aleman shined on offense with a spectacular touchdown pass to Daniel Bould and a one-handed TD reception thrown by Mario Febbraro.
The Texans beat the Chiefs 27-26 in a very exciting game that came down to the last few minutes. Three touchdowns scored by Daniel Cordova and Justin Reece added a TD and an interception that helped the Texans come back from a 13-0 deficit. Great job by the entire Texans team on their first victory.
