PAL Flag Football Report

Grasshoppers—The 49ers and Steelers faced off Sunday, Oct. 14 in a fun and well-played game. Chris McItyre ran for one touchdown and threw for another to Colin Horowitz while Dean Kott ran for two touchdowns and Nick Miglaccio ran for another. Anthony Scarmato led the defense with one flag and one assist.

Peanut 2—In a low scoring game, Michael McCarty had a long TD run for the Redskins while Christian Mall was all over the field on defense recording four flags/ tackles. Mason Kott, Christopher Giglio and Joseph Mahan each had long runs for nice gains.

The 49ers offense came ready to play. Long touchdown runs by Aiden Gillen, Dominic Cottone, James Goodrich (who weaved in and out of defenders) and Andrew Aldieri and a well-executed fade touchdown pass from T.J. Preiss to Matty Shea, set the tone for the day. The 49ers also had a smothering defense led by Joe Bleck, Ryan Kopetic and TJ Preiss, all with three flags. Jake Hajko, James Goodrich, Aiden Gillen, Matty Shea, Ryan Kopetic and Andrew Aldieri all had key flags in a great effort by the 49ers, which had their hands full defending Vincent Horn, Mia Smith and James Hammelman of the Vikings.

From the Oct. 7th game, the 49ers played great against a tough Titans team. Goodrich, Bleck, and Kopetic all had long TD runs. Shea added a TD and had an interception. Preiss had a sack and an interception. Cottone added two tackles along with a long run that set up a score in the second half and Colin Begley played solid defense to shut down the Titans’ offense.

Pee Wee 3—The Steelers defeated the Giants 42-12. The Giants opened the scoring with an 80-yard run. The Steelers responded with a long touchdown run from Nick Napolitano. The Steeler defense then forced the Giants to turn the ball over on downs three times in a row. Each time, the Steeler offense responded with a touchdown. Miles Mcintyre scored on a reverse, and Nick Napolitano had a 40-yard touchdown pass from Nick Disanti. Kevin Piranio caught a one-yard touchdown. In the second half Jake Miller rumbled down the sideline with an 80-yard touchdown pass and Antonio Migliaccio scored his first touchdown of the year on a reverse.  Colin Cody ended the scoring outburst with a 50-yard run on a reverse. Nick Disanti and Ian Innes lead the defense with multiple flags.

Pee Wee 4—The Titans improved their record to 5-1 by defeating the 49ers 33-18.  Another great team effort led by Brenden Moritz, Chris Sperretta, Jack Moloney, Tyler Carlow, Adam Gordon, Michael Melo and Daniel DeMartino.

Girls 5/6—The Titans and Jets engaged in an epic, defensive battle as both teams competed valiantly in a 12-all tie. The Titans were led once again by the amazing play of Olivia Kropp, who had a long, awe-inspiring TD run while making stop after big stop on defense. Paige Nusio, the Titans’ steady QB, actually took a hand off on a play and proceeded to break multiple attempted flag pulls before scampering down the sideline for a breathtaking dash to pay dirt for the Titans’ second score. The Wonder Twins, Gianna and Rebecca Morales, both contributed nifty runs of their own to get the Titans into good field position while also contributing some timely flag pulls on defense. Andrea Lauritsen, Victoria Gagliardi and Kimberly Dortz also had very effective, two-way games on offense and defense to pace the Titans’ amazing effort.
