DFS Mobile Command Center Available for Sandy Victims
Senator Kemp Hannon (R-Nassau), in conjunction with Governor Cuomo and the New York State Department of Financial Services (DFS) announces DFS will be making representatives available to answer insurance questions relating to Hurricane Sandy in the Levittown Mews Shopping Center, 3335 Hempstead Turnpike, Levittown, (across the street from the old K-Mart and current Staples) from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. DFS representatives will be able to meet with affected residents in their special Mobile Command Center and will offer help to homeowners, renters and business owners with insurance-related issues stemming from damage caused by the storm. Citizens who are unable to go to the Mobile Command Center can call the Department’s Storm Hotline at 800-339-1758 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 8 p.m, Monday to Friday, and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekends. There will be a holiday fair at the Wantagh Memorial Congregational Church located at 1845 Wantagh Ave. from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The fair will be held in Seaman Hall (the white building next to the church). The Parkway Community Church will be holding a winter coat drive during the months of November and December. All coats will be donated to The Interfaith Nutrition Network (INN) in Hempstead, a not-for-profit, volunteer-based organization that addresses the issues of hunger and homelessness on Long Island.
