Bowl-a-thon To Benefit Animal Rescue 

The Last Hope Animal Rescue will host a bowl-a-thon on Friday, Feb. 15 from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. at Farmingdale Lanes on Conklin Street. Three hours of bowling excitement and raffles benefiting the organization’s animal rescue and community outreach efforts Event registration begins at 7 p.m. Shoe rental, pizza and soda are included. $25 per person. Over The Hill Gang Registration

Over the Hill Gang softball league is holding registration on Friday, Feb. 15 at 7 p.m. at Allen Park’s meeting room in Farmingdale. The league is open to men 40 and older who live in the town of Oyster Bay or Farmingdale. For league information and online registration go to: www.othgny.com. Players who register online must bring proof of age and residency to one of these registration dates.

Saturday, Feb. 16

Gun Buy Back Program 

Gun Buy Back Program to be held on Saturday, Feb. 16 from 9 a.m. to noon at Grace Cathedral, 944 Jerusalem Avenue in Uniondale. The program is anonymous and individuals will be paid $100 cash for every turned in operable rifle, $200 cash for each turned in operable handgun and $400 cash for each turned in operable assault rifle. Not accepted are: licensed guns, BB Guns, air pistols, long guns and replicas. Guns transported by car must be transported in the trunk of the car and must be unloaded and put in a plastic or paper bag or in a shoebox.

Figure Drawing

Open to the public at Farmingdale State College. Improve your figure drawing skills in a professional setting surrounded by peers. Each session will be presided by a Visual Communications faculty member and a live nude male or female model. All ages are welcome, but participants under age 18 must be signed in by a parent or guardian prior to the beginning of each session. Cost is $5 per session. Bring drawing materials: paper, charcoal, pencils, tape and other medium/tools needed. Next sessions: March 5, April 2, May 7, June 4 from 6 to 9 p.m. in Nathan Hale Hall, Room 232.

Rumrunning On Long Island

The Farmingdale Bethpage Historical Society of Long Island will host the presentation on March 10 at 2 p.m. at the Farmingdale Public Library, 116 Merritts Road. Program is free and open to the public. Refreshments and social hour will be held following the program.
