As Assemblyman Joseph S. Saladino raises his right hand and is sworn in to a new term in the New York State Assembly, he is looking ahead to a new year of working in Albany with legislative leaders to solve the problems facing Long Island. Assemblyman Saladino is focused on 2013 to provide funds for storm victims in the region.
“With my election as the Nassau County Republican Conference leader and appointment to the powerful Ways and Means Committee, I am in a good position to make sure that the voices of my constituents are heard in Albany,” said Saladino. “We must come together to solve New York State’s problems and restore jobs and our economy.”
Long Islanders’ top concerns in 2013 are Superstorm Sandy recovery effort, affordable taxes, and public safety. Almost three months after this natural disaster, there are residents who still do not have power and are far from living in their homes. Assemblyman Saladino noted his willingness to work with Governor Cuomo to overhaul LIPA.
“The living conditions of Long Islanders in the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy are inexcusable,” said Assemblyman Saladino. “Governor Cuomo has laid out a proposal to improve the situation, and I look forward to going through the details of his plan. We must also stay united in keeping the heat on Washington until we get the disaster-relief package that my constituents so desperately need.
“Recent events have deepened my commitment to ensure that our children, our schools and our communities are safe to live and grow in,” said Saladino. “In the past, I have passed legislation to protect our children from sex offenders and drug abuse. Protecting our children and communities must be a top commitment and an ongoing conversation that everyone participates in.”
