Free Legal Assistance For Veterans
On Sunday, April 7, Hofstra Law will host a free legal assistance clinic for all veterans. Free consultations with pro-bono attorneys who specialize in elder law, tax, wills, estate, family law, VA benefits, claims, disability, employment, USERRA, housing, bankruptcy, debtor/creditor matters, medicare/medicaid, landlord-tenant issues and more. Holocaust Memorial Museum
On Holocaust Memorial Day (Yom Hashoah), Temple Beth Torah, located at 243 Cantiague Road in Westbury, will have a display of artifacts rescued from the Holocaust. Owners of this material will show and explain what it is and where it came from. Some of the people are survivors, children of survivors or just have a story to tell. Film clips will be shown on a continuous basis and there will be a speaker. A service will follow. Children from the Hebrew school will also view the “Pop-Up Museum.” All are welcome.

Midway Movies: Shanghai Ghetto
Monday Night at the Midway Movies is one of the synagogue’s finest adult education programs, though it doesn’t quite feel like one. People gather not just to watch great movies, but also to view and review them with Jewish eyes. All films are shown with English subtitles for anyone with listening challenges. Admission is free and the public is welcome. This week, the film is documentary Shanghai Ghetto, not rated, 95 minutes. Warning: this film features very graphic footage from the concentration camps. Film starts at 7:30 p.m.

Last Hope Auction
There will be an auction with free admission to benefit Last Hope Animal Rescue at St. Bede’s Church located at 220 Berry Hill Road, Syosset. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with the live auction beginning at 6:45 p.m. Live and Chinese auctions and a mini flea market will be available, as well as refreshments at a nominal charge. Barbershop Harmony Concert

Free Veterinary Lectures
Once a month through December, Long Island Cat Fanciers sponsors free lectures given by top local veterinarians on topics relevant to dog and cat owners. Sign Language Classes
American Sign Language (ASL) classes will be offered by Mill Neck Services for deaf adults on Mondays from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Jan. 7 through March 25, 2013. The 10 sessions of the Level 1 Adult class are being held at the Day Habilitation and Interpreter Services building located at 501 S. Broadway, Suite B, Hicksville.
