The Greater Long Island Running Club and the Town of Oyster Bay Parks Department are hosting a training program for budding triathletes ages eight to 13.
The program will start with a training seminar in early June, followed by a series of eight weekend sessions each Saturday from 4 to 6 p.m. from June 29th to Aug. 17 at Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park, Oyster Bay.
Participants will learn correct form in all three elements of the triathlon — swimming, biking and running — including proper nutrition, hydration, proper footwear, apparel, bike accessories, and how to train in an educational and fun setting.
The program will culminate in the young athletes’ participation in the annual Town of Oyster Bay Junior Triathlon August 25.
The fee for each child who registers is $25. Registration is open at www.glirc.org, or call Mike or Linda at the Greater Long Island Running Club, (516)349-7646, for hard copy applications or more information.
