Students Portray Biographical Figures in Wax Museum

Fourth-grade students at Fork Lane School transformed their gym into a living wax museum, populated with the likenesses of both historical and current figures for their classmates and parents to learn from.

Students from Cristina Abbatiello’s and Lori Coley’s classes hand-picked their roster of luminaries before diving into the biographical research and preparation of costumes, posters, timelines and speeches to convincingly portray these people. As parents entered the museum, they were met with a vista of students posed as wax statues that came to life to explain who they are and why they are famous.

The lineup of famous people included world leaders, explorers, scientists, athletes, writers and entertainers. The wax museum exercise combined a variety of educational disciplines for the students, including reading comprehension, math, research skills, writing, creative art and public speaking.
