The Special Olympics recently held its 8th Annual Basketball Tournament at the New Hyde Park Memorial High School. The Knights of Columbus, of New Hyde Park, has been hosting this tournament for these special kids from the very beginning.
It was a good day for basketball and the New Hyde Park Knights came ready to play and do their best. In the opening ceremonies, The Knights of Columbus came dressed in their finest and the participants where excited and ready to play.
The NHP Knights played a two game series against Nassau County PAL. It was a tough match and both sides played their hearts out. The NHP Knights real know how to move the ball around and making shots like the pros.
Medals where given out to athlete and Key Club Students of NHP Memorial helped out with refreshments and sandwiches.
The NHP Knights meet Thursdays at 8 p.m. at Manor Oaks for basketball, ages range from 17 to 35. Joe Abberton runs the program.
