Bethpage Pharmacy, in a real close nail biter, won their second in a row by edging out Zwanger Pesiri Radiology 10-9. Barco jumped out with two in the bottom half of the first on a sac fly by Kevin Moloney and an RBI hit by Terry McPartland, but Zwanger tied it up in the third.
In the bottom half, Bethpage scored three on hits by Russ, Kevin Moloney and a sac fly by Dennis Ryan, but again Zwanger responded by scoring five, taking a 7-5 lead after 7-1/2, and again Bethpage came by scoring five in the bottom of the inning, all with two out.
The key hits came from Bob Bergstein and Russ again. Fortunately for Bethpage, Zwanger could only muster two in the eighth and were shut down completely in the ninth, giving Bethpage their 10-9 final.
LaCorte’s Family Auto Repair and Lockie & Nowachek Family Chiropractors played a very exciting game Friday night. L&N jumped to a 12-0 lead. But LaCorte mounted a big comeback in the sixth, scoring seven runs, and then scored seven more runs in the seventh to take a 14-12 lead. L&N scored another run to make it 14-13.
LaCorte held that lead going into the ninth inning. LaCorte then scored four more runs in the top of the ninth to increase their lead 18-13. But L&N was not to be outdone and scored five runs in the bottom of the ninth to tie the score, which is how the game ended 18-18.
Hitting stars for L&N were Chris Theoharides and Tom Desantis who both went 4-for-5, Pete Hajko who went 3-for-5 with a home run and Rich Apollo who went 2-for-2 with three intentional walks.
