A 30-year-old Southampton village man drowned in a backyard swimming pool on the South Fork last week, Southampton Town Police said Monday.

The victim, Lizandro Lopez, was found at the bottom of the pool at a residence on Deerfield Road in Watermill at 8 a.m. Wednesday, June 19, police said.

Lopez was removed from the pool and taken to the Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s office for an autopsy.

Southampton detectives are continuing the investigation and are trying to determine why Lopez was at the residence.

Detectives ask that anybody with information call them at 631-702-2230.
