School has ended. Have you registered for the recreation department’s summer camps yet? The recreation camps are rapidly filling. Many one-week camps are offered for ages 3 to 14 in the village in various activities. The Department of Recreation and Parks is pleased to announce the list of performers for its Summer Gazebo Concert Series.

All concerts begin at 7:15 p.m. on the village green at the corner of Stewart and Hilton Avenues. In the event of a less than beautiful summer sky (rain), all shows will be moved inside to St. Paul’s Cluett Hall.
Pee Wee Tennis For 4-6 Year Olds
Pee Wee Tennis is offered to children who are village residents ages 4 to 6. Eligibility is determined by the child’s age at the start of the session. Skills are learned by fun and easy to do drills taught by our tennis staff. Each child may register for a maximum of two sessions.

Pre-School Camp For 3 ½ To 5 Year Olds
The pre-school camp is a fun way for children ages 3 ½ to 5 years old who are residents of the village to spend the summer. Children who attend this camp MUST be 3 ½ years old by the start of the session. Arts and crafts, music, nature, and stories will fill the 2-hour class, run by Pat Leonenko, St. Joseph’s pre-school teacher.

US Sports Institute’s Sport Squirts And Soccer Squirts
The recreation department is pleased to work in conjunction with the US Sports Institute to offer two of their popular programs again this summer. The Sports Squirts Program has been designed to introduce children aged 3 to 5 to a variety of sports in a safe, structured environment. Soccer Squirts does the same while teaching the sport of soccer. All games and activities will encompass hand/eye coordination, balance, agility and movement—all key factors to the early development of children in sport. This program will be offered on the St. Paul’s fields.

Nature Camp In July
The Recreation Department and the Garden City Bird Sanctuary are joint venturing to offer a camp experience “Connecting with Nature”. Children ages 6-12 are invited to spend the morning at the Garden City Bird Sanctuary learning about how they can work hand-in-hand with nature. This one-week, two-hour program will meet at Nassau Haven Park and then move into the sanctuary, with walks, crafts, and take homes for each child involved.

Girls Volleyball Camp
This camp will provide instruction in skills necessary to compete in the sport of volleyball. The children will learn proper techniques in serving, hitting, and passing and well as the aspects of the game. This camp will be held in St. Paul’s Field House and is open to any resident of the Village of Garden City who is entering grades 6-10 in September.

New Section Of Lacrosse Squirts Camps Offered
The US Sports Institute Lacrosse Squirts Camp is a wonderful introduction to the sport of lacrosse, designed for beginner players who have little or no experience in the sport. The program is taught in a relaxed atmosphere with the emphasis on fundamental skills and technique; helping all children to progress and succeed. Children will learn how to play lacrosse through a series of fun activities, and then take part in small scrimmages to put into practice what they have learned.
All equipment is provided for the program that makes it a more affordable way for children to learn the game. The program is non-contact so no protective clothing is required.
When: Week of July 15 – 18 from 3:30 – 5 p.m.

USSI Field Hockey Camp—Registration Continues
US Sports Institute will conduct a Summer Field Hockey Camp for girls ages 9-13 that are residents of the Village of Garden City. Campers will be taken through all phases of the game, thoughtfully integrating technical and tactical components in a fun, innovative way. The camp will focus on individual skill development and the rules of the game, as well as the importance of playing together as a team. Players will be grouped by age, playing ability and experience level. No previous experience playing field hockey is required to attend the First Play Field Hockey Camp. Equipment will be supplied.
