(Editor’s note: The following is a letter from a Farmingdale resident about the article “‘Eat Local L.I.’ Stays True To Roots” by Randy Stephens, that appeared in the Sept. 13 edition of the Farmingdale Observer.)
You wrote a piece about “A Taste of Long Island” in last week’s Observer. Unfortunately, there are some mistaken facts in the first paragraph.
The Library Cafe opened in 2000; the space was vacant and for sale for several years before that. The new Farmingdale Library on Merritts Road opened in 1994. In fact, before the move, there were two locations of the Farmingdale Library. In addition to the one on Main Street, there was also a “South Farmingdale Branch) where the CVS/Best Yet shopping center is now (on Boundary Avenue) It actually was where the CVS is now.
Your article states that the Library Cafe was “named after the library that occupied the space until 1998” and that is not true.
