Suffolk County police have joined authorities in Riverhead in asking for the public’s help in identifying the male who assaulted a woman inside a women’s bathroom at the Tanger outlet mall in Riverhead this week.

Police said the assault on the 67-year-old woman occurred Tuesday around noon. The victim was screaming for help when another woman entered the bathroom and then notified mall personnel, police said. The suspect fled the scene and was last spotted on River Road, police said.

Authorities described the suspect as a clean-shaven black male who is about five-foot, eight-inches tall, slim and in his teens or 20s. He was last seen wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls are anonymous.
